They have two albums out, the first one being "I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love"(eyeball records) second one being "three cheers for sweet revenge" (reprise). Vox- Gerard Way, Guitar- Ray Toro, Bass- Mikey Way, Drums- Bob (formerly Matt), and last but not least guitar- Frank Iero. Yes, Mikey and Gerard are brothers. Singles so far: "honey this mirror isn't bing enough for the two of us", "vampires will never hurt you", "I'm not okay, I promise", "Helena". Please look into them before being asswipes. I'm not okay doesn't do them justice (not that it's not good) but.. if you want to hear a real MCR song listen to something like " Thank you for the venom" or "our lady of sorrows" or something like that to get a better idea of their sound. I saw them in october (04') and they were amazing.

Alright, there's a lot of mudslinging going on but here's the facts. MCR has never claimed to be emo or punk and have it documented. You look at the many many interviews scattered on the internet, every answer they give to what they sound like is "violent pop music", which I can agree with. Their sound is just really good so that's why they want to spread. And those who are somehow threatened by the bands look, those are show costumes. Basically, ever since they started touring, they've been getting darker imagery. When they aren't on camera, or on stage, they look like regular people without make up, I assure you.

Because MCR is really nice, and they have really gotten somewhere in just about 3 to 4 years shows that they've got some talent, and deserve some respect.

A band that has been around for a while but has just recently become popular because of the singles 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' and 'Helena'. Their other singles include 'Vampires Will Never Hurt You', 'Honey This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us,' and 'The Ghost of You' which was leaked on the internet before the release date. A fourth single from their latest album, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge, is planned in the Band's future. As of now, the next single could possibly be 'You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison' or 'Cemetary Drive'. They currently have 5 members: Mikey Way, Gerard Way, Bob Bryar, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro. My Chemical Romance has 2 albums out currently (I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love and Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge). A third album is due to be recorded sometime in the winter. They are currently finishing up headlining the Warped Tour and will begin their first headlining tour of the USA and a couple of UK dates in the fall. Judging from most interviews the band has participated in, their music is difficult to classify, but can be classified as "Violent Pop-Rock". If you don't like My Chemical Romance, then just don't listen to them (and if you don't like them, what are you doing looking this up?)

my chemical romance My Chemical Romance are a band from NJ. I;m not going to attempt to give them a specific genre, because they have many influences. Guitar wise they use a mixture of punk and metal riffs, mainly due to the bands love of bands like the Misfits, and metal bands such as iron Maiden. Lyrically, Gerard Way writes in a style similar to that of Morrisey, using metaphors and story-telling to get across his point. In reading the other definitions here, I was quite angered by the many comments about the band slitting their wrists, or encouraging their fans to do so, because one of the most important messages the band gives out is that self-harm is not acceptable. "No-one should ever feel the need to hurt themselves, because the rest of the world hurts you badly enough." They hate the idea of self-harm, and will always encourage their fans to get some help. Regardless of whether or not you personally like the music, people should never insult a band that to someone else could mean so much, and could have helped someone else so much. I don't like Slayer, to me slayer just sounds like noise, but I won't insult them because to someone they could have been a great help, could inspire them, or could just mean a lot to someone. Band members are Gerard Way, Frank Iero, Mikey Way, Ray Toro, and Bob Bryar. Yes, they are all quite good looking, but that isn't what the music is about, and they get quite uncomfortable about the attention to their looks. They're very nice guys, I hung out without them quite a bit a few weeks ago, and none of them once mentioned a wish to slit their wrists, mainly they just took the mickey out of each other, and tried to set me on fire by dropping their cigarettes on my shoes. BEGINNINGS: My Chemical Romance is a New Jersey band that was started by vocalist [Gerard Way] and after the 9/11 attacks. Before that, Gerard was working as a comic book artist in New York, but he didn't feel like his job was helping anyone. He wanted to reach out to people. 9/11 spurred him into action and it was also his inspiration for the song "Skylines and Turnstiles". He got in contact with his friend [Matt Pelissier] (drummer) and began running songs. Later he called up guitarist [Ray Toro] and asked for him to play. They still needed a bass though, so Gerard asked his brother [Mikey Way] if he would learn bass so he could be in the band. August 11, 2004, Gerard went cold turkey from his drinking problem and taking pills (Xanax). He has been sober ever since. MUSIC: There has been controversy over the precise musical genre of My Chemical Romance. They have been things such as: punk, emo, hardcore, screamo, goth, and vampiric rock. I personally don't label them. They have an entirely unique sound all of their own that doesn't need a definition. Call them what you want, but to me, they are simply MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE. An Alt. Rock/Post hardcore band from New Jersey. Often abreviated to 'mcr' or 'My chem.' Cops a lot of flak for no paticular reason. Constantly labled Goth, emo etc. just because a few of the band members have Black hair and wear small amounts of makeup. They aren't the same as Simple Plan or Good Charlette who bitch about how crap their lives are. Their songs have moving, almost poetic lyrics. Most haters base their opinions entirely on 'I'm not okay' which, whilst not a bad song, is definetly not their best. Check out something more like 'Thank you for the venom' or 'Headfirst for halos'. It's alright if you don't particulary like MCR, just give them a fair go, listen to more than a few songs, and don't say stuff like "MCR SUX\! FUCK OFF YOU PISSY EMO FAGS". The amazing band consists of [Ray Toro] - lead guitar, [Frank Iero] - rhythm guitar, [Mikey Way] - bass, [Bob Bryar] - drums, & the wonderful [Gerard Way] - vocals. I am aware that a lot of you who read this will be like 'oh its an emo kid' or 'they're so emo' BUT. They're not emo, if you actually listen to the lyrics, they are an ANTI suicide band. For example, the song Famous Last Words states: "I am not afraid to keep on living, I am not afraid to walk this word alone." & So on & so forth. My Chemical Romance has 3 studio albums - I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love; Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge; & The Black Parade. 2 Live CD/DVDS - Life On The Murder Scene & The Black Parade Is Dead\! Their most popular songs are Helena, I'm Not Okay (I Promise), Welcome to the Black Parade, Teenagers, & Famous Last Words. I personally did not hear all of their songs on the radio, I found them, so there may have been more mainstream songs, I don't know. MCR (as they are often abbreviated) formed in the time of 9/11. Gerard was on his way to work in NY & saw the bodies falling/jumping out of the building. At that point he though what am I doing with my life? He decided to call up some old friends & formed the band. The original drummer, [Matt Pelissier], was in the band when it formed, obviously. He later was fired because of his poor performance & lack of devotion to the band. As for where the name came from, Mikey & Gerard were working at Barnes & Noble. Mikey saw the words 5 Tales of Chemical Romance on the back or inside of a book (whose author I forget). When he joined the band, he thought he should add My to it to give it a twist. From then on, they were known as MCR, My Chem, & My Chemical Romance of course. Future plans - 2009: They recently filmed a music video for their cover of Bob Dylan's 'Desolation Row'. MCR recorded this song for the movie 'The Watchmen', which will be in theaters in March. My Chem is also set to record an album sometime this year, claimed to be 'early 2009'. In conclusion, a great band... in my opinion.

Yet again, how is it real music when the drummer who is non-proficient, is banging away monotonously on the drums, and the guitarist scrubbing away deviously on his guitar which is out of tune? And yet again, the so-called infamous ‘vocalist’ Gerard Way, attempting to whine out meaningless trash fixated on that musical rubbish, which is weak and tasteless. How can you even admire such gibberish? Gerard Way sounds as if he was impregnated by an incubus, and is failing at breath, trying to give birth to a demon baby. Don’t you get it? These imbeciles are attempting to get placed on a pedestal and paid millions and millions of dollars, utilizing their horrible trash. Their angst instigated nature is encouraged by the mainstream MTV, where they can relieve their heinous videos in order to get drowned in a pool of cash. You have to understand that these ugly music videos are nothing but marketing tools intended to promote the sale of music recordings. My Chemical Romance is nowhere near art. Their ‘music’ can be compared to someone who is spilling raw, viscous paint on a canvas. Now let me give you an example, regarding this. Let us take a real musician, Robert Fripp for instance and the amateur Gerard Way, and tell them to design a statue of a man. Robert Fripp has sculpted a statue, which has a very complex structure, with different kinds of moods and colours, pertaining a very concise texture, and is worth enjoying looking at. Gerard way, on the other hand, who has no knowledge of this, has made a statue with no basic structure or texture at all. Evidently, the deformed statue that he has attempted to make will collapse. If you turn this into music, you will see the differences. My Chemical Romance concentrates on their image, more than they could ever dream of focusing on their music. The babbling of teenage girls concerning the ‘sexiness’ of Gerard Way, is rather disturbing. Let’s face it, just look at him\! His grotesque image is imprinted upon my brain. It’s really hard to believe that these immature teenagers find him attractive, and are willing to mutilate their body parts for him. These nitwits, who dress silly, are a threat to actual music, any individual not deprived of average understanding of basic logic, will comprehend this. The conclusion? Maybe you could find yourself some real bands and then devote your life to them, instead of wasting your valuable time and your unworthy life listening to such trash.

My Chemical Romance- a talented band whose music doesn't need to be put into some lame category to make it easier for people to recognise. The style of music they play varies from song to song- both in the way they sound and the subject matter. They're not some self pitying bunch of losers who make up songs about death and chaos because their dark t-shirts got put in with the white wash. Their lyrics focus on the real world, using metaphors to represent personal situations and experiences, and to comment on issues like violence and depression, although the songs themselves aren't depressing. For those who are not into the lyrics- listen to the great quality of the vocals, the song structure and the instrumentals- they are fantastic just by themselves. Now- i have a few bones to pick. The band have recently been on MTV- but it doesn't make them sellouts- it just means that they've been recognised by a wider audience as their fanbase gets bigger. I mean what are they supposed to do- tell all their fans not to talk about them and to keep it "hush hush"??? I really think that people shouldn't dismiss them because they think it isn't "cool" to like music that other people know about. Music is music- and being a faithful fan from the very beginning- i say good for them. And to all the people out there who say that the band are all a bunch of "gays"- i would like to ask you- What the hell would it matter if they were all gay?? What does that have to do with good music?? Honestly if you are one of those people i say get over yourselves. It's the 21st century- time to accept it and get over this pissy little prejudice you have, if you please. I'm equally disgusted with all the people who get into the band because they think that the members are "hot". Big deal. There are plenty of good looking guys out there- so before you get all hot and bothered over the band try listening to their music first. Just like to finish by saying- if you don't like the band, then leave them alone. They don't need to be bagged out by some losers with too much time on their hands. Spend less time saying negative things about bands you don't like and more time being positive about the ones you are into.

The current members of the band are Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, Mikey Way, and Bob Bryar. Shortly after forming, the band signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004. The album was a major commercial success, selling over two million copies due in part to the success of the singles "Helena", "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", and "The Ghost of You". The band started recording their third studio album on April 10, 2006 with Rob Cavallo, producer of many of Green Day's albums. THE BLACK PARADE: (August 2006–present) A biography titled Something Incredible This Way Comes was released, written by Paul Stenning (Published in 2006). It features their beginnings, right through to The Black Parade. On August 22, 2006, the band played a special one-off show at the 1800-capacity London Hammersmith Palais. The show sold out in 15 minutes prompting tickets being sold on eBay well over the tickets' face value. "Early career (2001–2002) The band was formed by frontman Gerard Way and ex-drummer Matt Pelissier around a week after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Witnessing the planes crash into the World Trade Center influenced Way's life to the extent that he decided to start a band. Way wrote the song "Skylines and Turnstiles" to express his feelings about September 11th. Shortly thereafter, Ray Toro was called up and asked to join the band because at the time Way couldn't sing and play the guitar at the same time. Mikey Way, the younger brother of Gerard, loved the demo so much that he decided to join the band. After Pencey Prep broke up in 2001/2002, Frank became a guitarist for My Chemical Romance, just days before the band's debut album was recorded.[2] Three months after the formation of the band they recorded their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, subsequently released in 2002 on Eyeball Records. Despite only joining the band a few days before the album recording sessions began, Iero played guitar on two of the tracks, one of them being "Early Sunsets Over Monroeville". Mainstream breakthrough (2003–2006) In 2003, the band signed a deal with Reprise Records. Following a tour with Avenged Sevenfold, the band began work on their second album, entitled Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. Released in 2004, the album went platinum within a year. The band released three singles from the album: "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", "Helena" and "The Ghost of You". It was during this time that the band replaced Matt Pelissier with Bob Bryar, after they went to Japan in July 2004. The true nature of Pelissier's departure was due to an argument with band member Ray Toro as a result of mistakes made by the drummer during live performances. At the start of 2005, the band was directly supported on the first ever Taste of Chaos tour, and was also the opening act for Green Day on the American Idiot tour. During the summer, they co-headlined the Warped Tour 2005 with Fall Out Boy. Later that year, My Chemical Romance co-headlined and headlined their own tour with Alkaline Trio and Reggie and the Full Effect around the US. That same year, My Chemical Romance collaborated with The Used for a cover of the David Bowie and Queen classic, "Under Pressure" that was released as a benefit single on iTunes and other Internet outlets. On March 21, 2006, a 2 DVD/1 CD set entitled Life on the Murder Scene was released. It included one DVD chronicling the band's history, and a second DVD with music videos, the making of their videos, and a couple of live performances. An unauthorized biography DVD Things That Make You Go MMM\! was also released on June 27, 2006. The DVD does not actually feature any My Chemical Romance music clips or performances, but contains interviews with those who knew the band before much of their fame. The band started recording their third studio album on April 10, 2006 with Rob Cavallo, producer of many of Green Day's albums. It was originally thought to be titled The Rise and Fall of My Chemical Romance, but in an interview with Kerrang\! magazine, Gerard Way suggested this was just the album's working title, stating "It was never the title of the album, more a spoof, or joke." On August 3, 2006, the band finished shooting the videos for their first two singles from the album, "Welcome to the Black Parade" and "Famous Last Words", to be released on January 22, 2007. The video was directed by Sam Bayer, director of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Green Day's American Idiot videos. During the shoot for "Famous Last Words", band members Gerard Way and Bob Bryar were injured. Way suffered torn ligaments in his ankle, and Bryar a burn to the leg which caused a severe staph infection that needed constant monitoring in hospital. While these injuries were reported by several news agencies to have been the result of a car accident, a statement released by the band on their website and MySpace page has confirmed that these injuries occurred on the set of the video. The Black Parade (August 2006–present) Announcement of The Black Parade at London Hammersmith PalaisA biography titled Something Incredible This Way Comes was released, written by Paul Stenning (Published in 2006). It features their beginnings, right through to The Black Parade. On August 22, 2006, the band played a special one-off show at the 1800-capacity London Hammersmith Palais. The show sold out in 15 minutes prompting tickets being sold on eBay well over the tickets' face value. The name of the album they promoted was announced and 20 people dressed in black capes with their faces obscured paraded around Hammersmith, followed by a large group of fans and street team members with signs saying "The Black Parade". Later during the show the album title and the UK release date were confirmed. Prior to the band taking the stage it was announced that My Chemical Romance were unable to play, but they would be replaced by "The Black Parade". After initial crowd hostility it became clear the band were simply performing under a pseudonym in keeping with the theme of the album. When the set began, the backdrop art displayed the words "The Black Parade". On September 2, 2006, My Chemical Romance posted "Welcome to the Black Parade" on their MySpace page and their PureVolume page. "Welcome to the Black Parade" had its first radio airing on September 11, 2006. On September 26, 2006 the "Welcome to the Black Parade" music video was released in the UK, and on September 27 in the US. The Black Parade was released on October 23, 2006 in the United Kingdom and on October 24 in the United States. The Black Parade World Tour started on February 22, 2007, with Rise Against, Thursday and Muse as support acts. At the first concert of the tour in Manchester, New Hampshire, My Chemical Romance announced the addition of Reggie and the Full Effect frontman James Dewees, who will play keyboards/synth on the tour. On March 12, 2007, the band appeared on the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno as the host. They played their single, "Famous Last Words" at the ending of the show as flames were bursting behind them. My Chemical Romance received many positive and negative accolades. A lot of people refer to them as emo, but if you would actually take the time to listen to the lyrics of one of their songs, they are actually uplifting. Gerard has clearly stated that they want to SAVE lives, the exact opposite of destroy them. He urges fans NOT to cut their wrists, and if they are thinking of committing suicide to talk to someone, regardless of who it is. Most people that think they are bad haven't taken the time to listen to them, which is to say the most they've heard by them is either all of Welcome To the Black Parade, or the beginning of Teenagers, neither of which is like their original style, or their best songs. Gerard has also said that they are not emo, and never will be, and defined their music style simply as "rock".

One of the many bands who are worshipped by legions of former preps who now wear studded belts, Chuck Taylors, and check their Myspace account every six minutes. Fans of My Chemical Romance are usually in-between everything. They're too "refined" to like Linkin Park, Korn, and other ultra-mainstream angst-peddlers but too dense and flat to really do much more than haphazardly dabble in bands that are somewhat more challenging to get into, such as pre-"Dark Side of the Moon" Pink Floyd and Sonic Youth. My Chemical Romance is mainly at home in combining the sad-sack tendencies of emo lyrics and the overbearing self-absorption found therein (yes I know they're not emo you fucking idiots, emo is a very specific style of music that for all practical purposes has been dead for a few years. But you're truly a moron if you don't think they at least borrow some elements of that genre) with the overdone theatrics of prog rock and metal while having absolutely none of the virtuosity associated with those genres. Makes use of the same limp musicianship that is present in every other generic "dynamic" or "emotional" (short for "not really good at anything") rock band currently making 16 year old girls with glasses and acne cream their pants across the country. Speaking of their lyrics, this band is nothing special when compared to their peers while absolutely awful compared to somewhat decent bands.
